Affect on Products
The building of railroads had a huge affect on the products that they shipped. The advantages that the railroads provided were able to satisfy the needs of the costumer (such as speed of shipping) at a much cheaper price to the one shipping the products (bulk shipping). Previous methods, such as horse and buggy over land or canal boats over canals, simply did not match up to the abilities of the railroads when it came to shipping in bulk. After the building of railroads, there were still complaints about the uncomfortable travel. These complaints were still not nearly as significant as the incredible advancements in trade made by railroads.
